War Drums

This is Just a Test

I haven't been aboard for awhile. The war drums sounded in the distance, and their tattoo roused me from slumber. Along with a nagging feeling that I really do not know what is going on in these United States. There is a very dark river flowing well below my docile dreamriver. It is putrid and occult, and is gradually being exposed, to me anyway. Others have been on to it and I'm horrified at the scale and complexity of the sinister tributary. More so, came the realization the drums have been playing for quite some time.

So buckle up pilgrims, there are big changes on the way.

Anything Is Possible

One more time!

So here is the pitch(es). I suspect they are all screwballs--thrown with abilities I certainly do not understand. I'm talking politics. It may be more interesting this time, but still the same old tired game. I am more sure then ever that there are a chosen few that already know the final score--and will profit from it. All that is required now is a soundtrack and maybe some action figures.

I Am Tired Of Facebook

Because anything there I can do, has pretty much already been done. I  enjoyed that playground at first. But it became larger than New York City. And the salsa is terrible, lacks any real local flavor, or any flavor for that matter. I came back here and found the lights off and the parking lot empty. A tumbleweed blew across the entry path and I heard a lone wolf howl--it was beautiful.

There were a few commercials running, left over from two years ago. A lot can happen in two years. Who would have ever predicted Donald Trump for president? Reminded me of the Doc's question to Marty when he found Ronald Reagan was the future leader of the free world.
I have been on a Facebook vacation for a week and find it strangely exhilarating. I'm pretty sure this is my new address, again. I have plenty of google history, Pinterest too. I would rather exchange ideas "locally", and maybe discuss some hobby ideas. But I will have to become re-acclimated with blog methods, seems that I have lost some skills. I really need a refresher on image posting, video recommending and live link establishing.

Mandelbrot, Man of Chaos.

Mathematics has eluded me, frightened me even; and now it is fascinating. Of course, I am not any better at it. But there are stories and philosophies behind it -- and I can get into them; and I have been doing so. Never too late, eh? Mandelbrot is an interesting man, a rebel, although it is difficult to imagine a mathematics rebel. He is messing with people's heads even now. Maybe later I will have something on Feynman. He is right out of a "Men In Black" story line.

Is He Matt Dillon? I Think So.

I don't think you could make up a story as tight as this one. I thoroughly enjoyed the report and the reporter's participation in the story. I miss the good old days and this is a reasonable replacement for them. He also reminded me Of Andy Taylor of Mayberry, but instead of one bullet for Barney, this sheriff runs out at sixty-eight.

Researchers find oldest-ever stash of marijuana

Researchers find oldest-ever stash of marijuana
This is serious treatment of an archeological find. Strikes me as ironic that there really isn't anything new under the sun. Nothing cute or comedic about a very old element of many societies. There is a shaman involved in this story, and he is Caucasian.

Read To Me, Mr. Wizard.

I love books.  When I had asthma as a kid, reading was my salvation.  But I loved to read anyway, Tarzan, Sherlock Holmes, horse stories and canine heroes, I loved them all.  I have a Kindle, what a blessing that magic device is!  This is different, I put this up because it means having someone read to you.  God Bless my elementary school teacher who read "David and the Phoenix" to the entire class.  I read it in the subsequent summers as a kind of childhood tradition.  I have wonderful memories of the fierce Florida afternoon rainstorms as I read about a boy and his fire-bird.

Twilight Zone

Just in case there are any of you who do not know who Rod Serling was, and how he chilled the youth of America with his frighting science fiction and storytelling abilities; observe.
Be Afraid, Or At Least Warned.

Boy Meets Girl, In The Future . .

A new year is right around the corner.  A sweet romance unfolded recently as "Boy Meets Girl" populates this year's menagerie.  A Rod Serling over-voice and some Twilight Zone theme music would better serve this latest arranged date, one set in the future.  Do you remember Twilight Zone?

Navy Snipes

Seems like all my jobs have been hot and dirty ones and usually dangerous.  I am old enough to have been drafted.  So I joined the Navy, thanks to my trade school training.  The Navy is where the hot, dirty and dangerous jobs started.  I was rated as a Boiler Tender, later changed to boiler technician.  My duty was aboard an aircraft carrier.  To be exact, the USS John F. Kennedy, CVA-67.  The Kennedy is now, like me, retired.  I'm in mothballs in Florida.  In 1971-72 I enjoyed a Med. cruise, eleven months in a hot screaming hell--before hearing protection was provided. I say that just to provide the following explanation of why I was called a "snipe."  Our jobs were almost exclusively below the ship's water line.

Boy meets girl.

Quiet and lovely, this vignette is a pleasure to follow.  Trust the story and you will end up happy.

Hints & Tips #4 Knife Cuts on Thinner Leather

A Gentle Rebellion

We should welcome Jesus back into our schools.  Systematically He has been denied His place among our children as they receive their educations.  I consider this the major problem of public education today and I have a suggestion for a remedy.
